Back pain and sciatica is a self-limiting condition and in 90% of cases gets better in 6-12 weeks. Sciatica is when the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back to your feet, is aggravated. It can get better in a matter of weeks but can last for longer. It can be painful and debilitating in worst cases.
There are a lot of different structures in the back that could be causing pain including the discs, ligaments, muscles, and nerve tissue. Pain could be caused by any one of these, so getting to your Physio is imperative to getting the correct diagnosis and advice.

Contact UsWrist or hand pain can be caused by a disease or injury affecting a number of parts of the wrist joint, including the bones, ligaments and connective tissue.
Pain from the joint itself is medically known as arthralgia. If the pain is being caused by inflammation then arthritis may occur. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the most common types of arthritis to occur in the wrist.
Repetitive motion injuries can cause discomfort in the wrist and hand region too. Carpal tunnel syndrome is when the median nerve at the wrist is pinched causing numbness, pins and needles, and discomfort. Trauma or injuries such as strains and sprains can also cause wrist pain especially in sports people or manual workers.

Contact UsHip pain is a common condition that we see in our clinic and it can have a number of causes not least osteoarthritis, labral tears or impingement.
Problems within the hip joint tend to cause pain on the inside of the hip or your groin. This can radiate to the knee, into the buttock or even the back.
Hip pain can sometimes be caused by conditions in other areas of your body, such as your lower back. This type of pain is called referred pain and is being caused by the nervous system displaying pain away from the cause.

Contact UsFacial pain is discomfort felt in any part of the face, including the mouth and eyes. Although it can be due to an injury or a headache, facial pain may also be the result of a serious medical condition and may require a professional to review the symptoms and diagnose the problem.
Elizabeth Strong is our expert. She has been treating patients with facial pain for 20 years. The conditions most commonly seen are disorders of the Temporomandibular joint (TMJ for short – the Jaw), Bell’s palsy patients who have had facial tumours such as acoustic neuromas removed, and patients who have had problems following cosmetic facial surgery.
We use a number of treatment techniques including mobilisations, massage, specific facial exercises, acupuncture, facial nerve stimulators, and electrotherapy.

Contact UsLike most joints, the characteristics of shoulder pain vary, depending on the cause and severity of the problem. Sufferers may feel shoulder pain all the time, or only when they move their shoulder. Either way, it can have a major effect on everyday life and is something that can be treated with regular Physio.
Two common shoulder conditions are tendonitis (inflammation of the tendons) and bursitis (build-up of fluid in the cushioning of the bursa). These commonly have a slow onset of discomfort and you may have difficulty sleeping on the affected shoulder. Other sudden onset conditions may include rotator cuff tears, dislocation or subluxation often after falls or trauma
If you suffer from shoulder pain, then find out how we can help restore your comfort.

Contact UsElbow pain usually isn’t serious, but because it’s a part of your body you use in most daily tasks it is debilitating, frustrating and can affect your daily life. Your elbow is a complex joint. It allows you to both extend and flex, as well as rotate your hand and forearm. Since most actions are a combination of these motions, it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly where the pain is coming from.
A regular sports injury we see is tennis elbow. This is a condition that causes pain on the outside of the elbow. It is caused by strenuous overuse of the muscles and tendons of the forearm regularly seen in racket sport playing athletes or after intense power gripping when gardening and doing DIY.
